SIGNING – Roche joins Thunder for 2020

Newcastle Thunder have strengthened their forward options for the 2020 season, after making a move to secure the services of experienced Ireland international Colton Roche from Bradford Bulls.

A product of the Leeds Rhinos academy structure, the 26-year-old arrives at Thunder as a powerful and direct runner who is renowned for bringing intent to his side’s defensive contact.

With more than 100 games under his belt since making his debut in 2012, Roche is experienced head who has played across the divisions including Super League with Huddersfield Giants.

Able to play at second-row and centre Roche offers a degree of versatility to Thunder for the 2020 season that head coach Simon Finnigan will be keen to make full use of.

Speaking about his new signing, Finnigan said: “I’m looking forward to working with Colton, he will add to our team as someone who plays the game in a dynamic way and I am sure will compliment the way that we play.”

Roche becomes Thunder’s 11th signing for 2020, and joins Bob Beswick, Sean Croston, Kieran Gill, Ollie Gowing, Kieran Hudson, Sam Luckley, Rory Nettleton, Quentin Laulu Togaga’e, Tyler Walton and Lewis Young in the ranks.

Season tickets to see Colton and the rest of the Newcastle Thunder squad in action during the 2020 season are available to buy now by calling 0871 2266060 or visiting the Kingston Park Stadium box office, with prices starting from just £120.
