NEWCASTLE THUNDER CONFIRM WIGAN FRIENDLY

Newcastle Thunder will complete their pre-season preparations against Super League opposition in January, when they host Wigan Warriors

Taking place at Kingston Park Stadium on Sunday 23rd, it marks a welcome return of the visit of a top flight club to the North East, after the annual tradition was interrupted this year as a result of Covid 19.

Kicking off at 3pm, tickets to the game will be included in Thunder’s 2022 season ticket membership package for all purchased before December 31st.

Starting from just £190 for adults, season ticket memberships will also grant access to 13 Betfred Championship games alongside a host of additional benefits. For full details, click here

For supporters wishing to purchase tickets only for the game, these will be priced at £5 for Under 16s and all others £10. Match tickets will go on sale later in December.

The visit of the Warriors joins the January 16 trip to Barrow Raiders as part of Thunder’s schedule, ahead of the Betfred Championship kick off on January 30th, with head coach Eamonn O’Carroll looking forward to seeing his side in action.

He said: “We’re delighted to have added a friendly against Wigan to our pre-season plans and it will be a good opportunity for a final hit-out before the season starts.

“As usual in these sorts of games, there’ll be a chance to play extended squads and get a good look at everyone in a match environment.

“With an away game the week before, we’ve got a good balance before we go to Workington in round one and I’m pleased our fans will get a chance to see the team before the Championship kicks off”
