SIGNING – Coleman makes switch from Skolars On Field November 30, 2018 Newcastle Thunder’s recruitment for the 2019 Betfred League 1 season is complete following the addition of Jy-mel Coleman from London Skolars. The brother of current Skolars head coach Jermaine, Coleman is an experienced half who will add to the growing group of on-field leaders in the Thunder ranks in 2019. With a strong kicking game and game-management skills, Coleman’s ability to read games allows him to act as a playmaker and put his team-mates into profitable positions, a role he has performed well at both League 1 and Championship level. His move to Kingston Park sees him link up with international team-mates Joe Brown and Mo Agoro alongside whom Coleman helped Jamaica qualify for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. Speaking about his move to the North East, Coleman said: “I’ve been speaking to Jason for a little while and saw a lot of good things going on at the club and I was happy to jump at the chance to join. “It’s exciting times for Thunder and they are doing things in the right way. I’ve played against this team when it has not been going great for them and to see where they are and what they have progressed to by putting the right structures in place, it’s exciting.” Coleman joins Mo Agoro, Harry Aldous, Jack Aldous, Jared Blanke, Keal Carlile, Jed Charlton, Rhys Clarke, Dan Coates, Tyler Craig, Liam Finn, Conor Fitzsimmons, Kieran Hudson, Kieran Gill, Sam Luckley, Remy Marginet, Liam McAvoy, Aaron Ollett, Liam Richmond, Alex Rowe, Niall Sidney, Evan Simons, Misi Taulapapa, David Weetman and Lewis Young in Thunder’s 2019 squad.
