UP NEXT - NEWCASTLE THUNDER V WHITEHAVEN RLFC

Newcastle Thunder return to Kingston Park Stadium for the next round of Betfred Championship action, as Whitehaven RLFC provide the opposition this Saturday (KO 3pm)

Both clubs are looking for a second win of the season after Thunder kicked off with an opening day triumph against Workington Town, while Whitehaven got their account of the mark in round three against London Broncos.

After the disappointment of losses to Batley Bulldogs and Barrow Raiders in recent weeks, a win for Thunder would get the season back on track after they started positively with a 20-6 round one win over newly promoted Town.

Newcastle have been showing glimpses of the exciting rugby expected from their newly assembled squad over the course of their opening games, with Gideon Boafo, Alex Foster, Brad Gallagher, Jack Johnson and Nathan Wilde all off the mark in the try-scoring charts.

One of the surprise packages of the 2021 season, Whitehaven have undergone a host of changes over the course of the winter with a number of key players retiring and a change in head coach with Jonty Gorley taking over from Gary Charlton.

Included in the new faces the Cumbrians brought in over the off-season are former Thunder forward Liam McAvoy and eye-catching fullback Geronimo Doyle who switched from relegated Swinton Lions.

With two close fixtures between the sides in 2022, another thrilling match is in prospect this Saturday afternoon.

Tickets are on sale now with adults priced at £15, Concessions at £10, YAS (16-24 year olds) £8 and Under 16s at £5 while hospitality places are also available for Sunday’s game, with a one course meal, executive West Stand seat and complimentary parking available for just £25 for adults.

Tickets and hospitality can be booked by clicking here, calling 0191 214 5588 (opt 1) or visiting the box office at the ground.

Advanced purchase prices remain in effect until 23:59 on Friday 18th February, after which time adult tickets rise to £20, concession to £15 and YAS to £10. Under 16s remain at £5.
