ENTRIES OPEN FOR HALIFAX THUNDERBOLT CHALLENGE

Register for your chance to race the Thunder ace at half-time on Saturday

After its launch at the Widnes Vikings game at the start of the month, Newcastle Thunder's half-time Thunderbolt challenge is back for the visit of Halifax Panthers on Saturday.

Fans are invited to “race the ace” during the break of the weekend's Betfred Championship clash, with a member of the crowd selected to race against a member of the Thunder squad in a 100m dash from end to end of the field.

Connor Bailey, Gideon Boafo, Dan Coates, Alex Donaghy and Isaac Nokes are the players available to be raced, with the opponent chosen by pausing a rapid carousel on the stadium big screen.

After selecting who they will test themselves against, the challenger will set off at the same time as a video of the chosen player begins playing on the stadium big screen.  Whoever crosses the line first, wins!

As well as a rapturous round of applause from the crowd, the challenger’s time will be logged on our leaderboard, with additional prizes up for grabs at the end of the season.

With a benchmark time of 16.7 seconds set by fan Ryan at the Widnes game, who will be adding their names to our list this weekend?

Entries are now open, with fans able to register for selection by clicking here and completing the online form.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are available to book by clicking here, calling 0191 214 5588 (opt 1) or from the stadium turnstiles on Saturday afternoon.
