VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH NEWCASTLE THUNDER

Newcastle Thunder are looking to fill the following voluntary positions:

Club Welfare Officer
Scholarship Development Coach (2 positions available)
Academy Team Manager
 
Club Welfare Officer

This person would ideally be someone with an interest in the welfare and safeguarding of young people, preferably with experience in this area such as working in education or local authority.

The person would be responsible for ensuring all safeguarding policies and protocols are kept up to date, attending RFL Safeguarding conferences and being a point of contact for any player (or relative of).

The person would work with the Academy Manager and other members of the club’s Welfare Committee in order to ensure best practice in the safeguarding and welfare of all of our junior players.

The time commitment of this role would be flexible.  The person would need to be able to respond quickly and effectively to communications if they arise as well as showing a regular presence around the club to build familiarity with existing players and staff.
 
Scholarship Development Coach

There are two opportunities for aspiring coaches who wish to further develop their knowledge and understanding of rugby league, by coaching on the club’s Scholarship (Under 16) programme.

These persons must hold a UKCC Level 2 Rugby League coaching qualification.

The Scholarship programme trains twice per week at Kingston Park stadium and involves 8 playing opportunities as part of the Rugby League Performance Pathway.
 
 Academy Team Manager

This person would ideally be someone with good organisational skills who would be responsible for administrative tasks involving both the Academy and Scholarship programmes; such as preparation of kit and equipment for match days, compiling and submission of team sheets and other match day requirements.

All of the above posts will be subject to DBS Enhanced checks prior to appointment.
