THUNDER COMMUNITY SET FOR 2022 MOODY CUP

Bumper grassroots festival ready to take centre stage on Sunday

Thunder Community are gearing up for the biggest grassroots festival of the season this coming week, as the 2022 Moody Cup takes place ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Championship visit of Leigh Centurions.

Clubs from across the North East, Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire will take part in games over the course of the morning, with entries received from Under 7s to Under 16s age groups.

With more teams than 2021 registered from 14 clubs, it is set to be a bumper day of games for young players from across the country.

There will be a fun-filled atmosphere across the day, with plenty of additional attractions around the playing pitches.

Event sponsor Moody Logistics present with “Peggy” the company’s vintage 1950 Bedford truck and their brand new 18-tonne Iveco truck Geordie Thunder, along with an outdoor refreshment plaza where families and players can refuel throughout.

Thunder’s famous in-house barbecue will be among the offerings available on the day offering tasty, freshly cooked favourites.

After providing the after-match music for the Magic Friday clash with Bradford Bulls, Newcastle DJ Ste Jay will return to provide the soundtrack to the day, with his set beginning alongside turnstiles opening at 13:30.

With all participants receiving a complimentary ticket for the afternoon’s visit of Leigh and strong travelling support, it promises to be an excellent atmosphere throughout the day.

Tickets for Sunday are on sale now and are priced at £15 for adults, £10 for concessions, £8 for 16-24-year-olds and £3 for Under 16s.

Hospitality is also available to book, with a two-course pre-match meal part of the offering available for Sunday's match priced at £60 for adults and £30 for Under 16s
