THUNDER NAME 20-MAN SQUAD FOR BARROW

Three changes and a new addition into the expanded roster for round 25 of the Betfred Championship

Newcastle Thunder have named an extended squad for Saturday’s visit of high-flying Barrow Raiders that shows three changes from last week’s against Halifax Panthers.

After another bruising encounter at The Shay, Thunder are without the services of Nathan Clemmitt and Brad Gallagher after their withdrawals during last Sunday’s match, whilst Umyla Hanley is retained by Wigan Warriors as they prepare for a double-header weekend in Super League.

With players including Jack Johnson, Jesse Dee Alex Foster and Dan Coates also unavailable, Thunder have recalled on-loan Pat Moran back from Rochdale to bolster their options for this week’s game.

The Ireland international comes back into the 20-man roster along with Brad Day, Ellis Robson and Brad Day.

The first meeting between the two sides at Kingston Park since 2017, Saturday’s clash has extra impetus for both teams in the battle for Betfred Championship points.

For the Raiders, a win will maintain their chase of fourth place in the standings and a home tie in the first bank of play-off fixtures for which they have already qualified.

For Thunder, a first win over the Cumbrians since 2015 would build on a committed display against Halifax last weekend an add a welcome morale boost as the season draws to a close.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are on sale now priced at £15 for adults, £10 for concessions, £8 for 16-24-year-olds and £3 for Under 16s.

These prices remain in place until 12 Noon on match day, after which time full ticket pricing comes into effect.
