Alex Foster joins Castleford Tigers

Newcastle Thunder forward Alex Foster has been granted a release by the club in order to join Super League outfit, Castleford Tigers.
The 29-year-old has made 27 appearances for Thunder since joining from his new club Castleford in 2021, scoring six tries.
Named club captain for 2023, Foster touched down three times in his 15 outings this season, and leaves with the thanks and best wishes of the club.
Chair of Newcastle Thunder Keith Christie said: “We’re sad to see Alex leave. He’s been a huge part of our club the last two seasons, which was shown when Chris Thorman appointed him captain at the beginning of the year.
“Although we would have loved Alex to remain with us, the opportunity Castleford present is one we couldn’t stand in the way of, and we wish him all the best with the move.
“A true leader on and off the pitch, I’d also like to thank Alex on behalf of the club for his contribution.”
Chris Thorman, Newcastle Thunder head coach added: “I’d like to wish Alex all the best with his move to Castleford Tigers and thank him for efforts this season.
“He’s been an exemplary player on the pitch as well as off it and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed coaching him.
“He’s been a fantastic leader of this playing group and I know he’ll make the most of the challenge presented to him in the Super League.”
