Thunder LDRL enjoy festival finale

On Saturday morning nine players from our LD team travelled down to Manchester, Belle Vue Stadium, for the biggest-ever Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League season finale festival.

Thunder was one of 17 clubs involved in the event this year with over 400 players travelling across the country from both the North and South hubs.

It was a great finish to the CIC Learning Disability Super League Season. Thunder played some fantastic games against Wigan Warriors, Sheffield Eagles, York City Knights and Warrington Wolves.

There were some great skills on display from everyone and some superb tries. Everyone had lots of fun and was so pleased to see friends from other teams that they’d made during the year.

Speaking about the success of this season LDRL Jason Grant (Senior Thunder Community Development Officer) said: “The 2023 LDSL season has been fantastic. We have achieved over and above what we set out to do.

The team has had internal games against each other, Sheffield Eagles travelled to us for a match, and we successfully hosted and took part in a festival over Magic Weekend, as well as taking part in festivals in places like Castleford and Manchester.

Plans are already in place for next season when things will get even bigger and better.”
