Newcastle Thunder Membership Pledges

Thunder launch Membership Scheme to help secure the club’s future

Newcastle Thunder today launched its new membership scheme aimed at securing the club’s financial future and offering the best possible chance of competing in 2024. With over 50% of the six figure amount now secured from sponsors, partners and central funding the club is looking to the membership scheme to provide the majority of the remaining finances required.

The club will be providing three levels of membership for Thunder fans, local businesses and the wider rugby league family to support. Payment is able to be made in stages for the top two tiers and crucially no payments will be taken until the club is confirmed to be included in the 2024 BetFred League One competition.

Club Chairman Keith Christie commented:

“The local business community has been fantastic in it’s response to the current Thunder position and have committed to significant backing for the 2024 season. We will continue to engage with potential new sponsors over the next few weeks.

“Now we need the supporters and wider rugby league family to step forward and show how much the club means to the sport, the city and the region. We saw a lot of messages of support and disappointment when the news broke recently about the club’s position. Now is the time to channel that emotion into keeping the club going and the main way that can happen is by people becoming a Thunder Member. We can’t do this if that support isn’t now realised.”

The Thunder Membership Programme offers four tiers of involvement. Platinum Membership will be limited to 100 individuals or businesses. It offers the widest range of benefits and will have consultation meetings quarterly with the Thunder management team. It also includes a season ticket, Hospitality at selected home games, access to away directors tickets, replica shirt, exclusive events, Challenge Cup Final tickets and a host of further benefits. It costs £41.67 per month for twelve months, commencing in December 2023.

Silver Membership includes a season ticket that gives entry to 10 home league matches, 2 home 1895 cup games, discount on merchandise, access to member events, monthly newsletter and a Challenge Cup Final ticket. It £20.83 per month for twelve months, commencing in December 2023.

Season Ticket Membership gives entry to 10 home league matches, discount on merchandise, access to member events and a monthly newsletter. It will cost £150 per year for adults or £50 for Under 16s.

Club membership is for fans who can’t make it regularly to home matches but want to support the club in their efforts to re-establish the sport at professional level in the north east. It is a one-off payment of £50 per year and includes two tickets to a home game of your choice, monthly newsletter and discount on merchandise.

Urging the north east rugby league family to get involved Christie said:

“We can’t do it with our brilliant supporters. We proved last time the club was in League 1 that there is a good support base in the north east. We averaged around 1,100 fans to home games. That is more than most clubs at that level (third tier) in RL, RU and other team sports outside of football. Supporters now need them to show how much this club means to them by getting involved once again.”

People can now click on the google form and select which membership they would like to pledge to.
